Around the world, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is gaining recognition as an essential component of the right to education and a key driver of social and economic inclusion. At the same time, persistent gaps in public financing and provision have facilitated the growth of private actors in the sector, raising important questions about equity, quality, and accountability.
This launch event will present two new publications: an international review of current privatisation of ECCE and a case study examining the context in Argentina. The event will also bring in contributions from the Global Education Monitoring Report, academics, civil society in Uganda, and perspectives from unions. It hopes to bring together civil society organisations, advocates, researchers and practitioners to reflect on the future of ECCE as a public good and human right.
